Andrew Lennox

Ann Arbor, Michigan

A combat veteran, Lennox served ten years in the Marine Corps, with deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. “I was an infantryman,”
he told a reporter for Mother Jones magazine. “I love being tired, dirty, and outside. I love leading Marines. I love all the mentors that I had… I loved the Marine Corps, but I wanted to start a family, and the deployments are not very conducive to that.”

In December of 2024, Lennox landed a job with the Department of Veterans Affairs, working in a support role at a VA hospital in Ann arbor. His background helped him relate to the patients, who included vets going back to the Vietnam era. “Older ones, younger ones, I’d love nothing better than to help them,” Lennox says. “It’s my family.” Three months later, he got a form email telling him he had been dismissed, supposedly for poor performance. In fact, he was just one of about a thousand VA workers robo-fired because, as the Mother Jones article explained, their probationary status “made it easier to get rid of them.”

Like the others, Lennox was fired at the direction of Elon Musk’s DOGE – the
Department of Government Efficiency. One of Lennox’s duties was to go over records of hours, services and purchase orders in order to make sure that the hospital wasn’t wasting taxpayer dollars.
